6 Aug 2008 Freddie Mac posts greater-than-expected losses

Troubles continue for embattled mortgage giant during the second quarter.  The company (NYSE: FRE) posted a net loss of $821 million, or $1.63 per diluted share, compared to a $729 million profit, or 96 cents per share, during the same period a year ago. The losses were much worse than the 41 cents per share loss analysts were expecting.
